There has to be a way to make it big, right? There has to be a way to make a million dollars quickly! In Wonders Never Cease, that is exactly what Kemp McAvoy is trying to do. Kemp is a nurse who works at a hospital where actress Olivia Hayden comes after a terrible car accident. Kemp decides to use his knowledge of anesthesia to “plant” a story in Hayden’s mind that she saw an angel and the angel left a message for the whole world with her. The plan is perfect and once Olivia tells her story to the world, the money will start rolling in with book sales and movie offers, and he’ll be in on the payload! Or so he thinks…

Kemp’s girlfriend, Natalie, is also a nurse at the same hospital. Natalie’s daughter, Leah, thinks that she can see angels and proceeds to share this information with her entire school class. When Natalie gets called to the school because of Leah’s stories, her world begins to unravel, including her relationship with Kemp. He is being more secretive than normal and Natalie finds herself facing the school officials by herself.

Will Kemp’s plan work? Will Olivia tell this elaborate story that he planted in her mind? Will she share the angels’ message with the world without destroying his plan? Kemp thinks that he has it all figured out, but keeps forgetting that he has a tendency to get into trouble…

This is the first novel I’ve read by author Tim Downs and it grabbed me from the first chapter and held me till the end of the book. The writing style is easy and light, while at the same time covering a topic that can cause quite a discussion. Are angels real? Can we as humans really see them? What can angels do on earth? Do they give us messages? All of these questions come to mind while reading Wonders Never Cease. It will cause you to question yourself and make you figure out exactly what you believe.
