I wish that I had this book when my son was born. I sure could have used it. One of the Amazon 's reviewers said that is like getting advice from your best friend. At that time, I really needed a best friend. Mother was the closest one to being one. She said that she didn;t know what she was doing either. She was the eleventh child of a family of twelve.

But my mother-in-law moved next door to us and because she had raised four children, she, my sister-in-laws, brother-in-law and even my husband thought she had the last word. That made me very uncomfortable. I scheduled some vacations away from the crew with my baby. I drove up to see my mother and felt so relaxed there.

I noticed that this book is now selling for $2.11!
Wish I knew a young mother to give it to.

Sharon,

Thank you for the blog compliment!

I should clarify - I loved my baby, but I didn't always like him. It was really hard to adjust to the new sleep schedule and his demands. Not that I'm trying to get you to agree with me, but just so you will understand what I meant by my comment.

As a NICU baby nurse, books about babies are part of my regular reading routine. Even though I am not usually dealing with babies over 2 months old, I am always needing the answers to what to do with the baby questions. Plus sometimes I read the most wonderful books with advice I can use in the NICU like 'The Happiest Baby on the Block' and 'The Baby Whisperer'. So even though my baby is thirty something, I would read this book.

On behalf of nurses everywhere, thanks for the cookies Jen.
And no, I do not believe it is ever okay to dislike your new baby.

I wish someone would have told me that is okay to dislike your new baby in the first couple weeks. Here you are getting very little sleep, at the beck and call of a 8 pound terror and everyone else is like "Oh, how sweeeeet. Gee, I miss having a newborn."

If this is a book of practical advice, I'm all for it. I wish I had tried to do less that first month. I remember I baked cookies and delivered them to the hospital for the nurses just four days after I was released. What was I thinking?
