Who doesn’t love a cowboy? Especially one who is sexy as sin and saves your life! In Stone Cold Cowboy by Jennifer Ryan, Sadie Higgins finds out just how irresistible country boys can be.
Sadie has been getting her brother out of trouble since their mother died, but when she catches him rustling a herd of cattle, her life changes forever…and not just because of the danger her brother puts her in to save his own skin. Little does she know, when a dark and forbidding man finds her in an awful situation, her world won’t ever be the same.
Rory is sick and tired of people stealing from him, and he will find out who it is. On the search for the perp, he happens upon Sadie in the woods, but the woman he sees before him is not the sweet, quiet, and beautiful woman he is used to seeing. With his heart breaking for her and what she has been through, he vows to protect her.
Will Sadie be able to trust Rory after what she’s been through? Will Rory be able to prove to Sadie that all he wants is to keep her safe? And as Sadie and Rory get closer to one another – and danger – will they make it through to the other side unscathed?
I’ve always had an addiction to Avon Books; especially ones that feature a gorgeous cowboy. Stone Cold Cowboy roped me in from the first page with a suspenseful, and quite twisted, beginning. As the novel continued, so did the suspense. As an avid romance novel reader, I knew they would end up together in the end, but the road from point A to point B was very interesting. One of Ryan’s strengths is keeping the reader guessing through the trials and tribulations that eventually lead to a happy ending.
If there is one complaint that I have about the book, it’s that the end felt a little rushed. It didn’t ruin the book for me, but I do wish she would’ve taken a little more time to perfect the ending.
In regards to all of the other romance novels that I’ve read (I would say I’ve read 100 or so), this was definitely a contender for top ten.
