Searching For Sassy is the story of author Alyson Mead and her tenure as a psychic hotline worker. Alyson leads the typical single girl existence in New York City. The book follows her journey from a hotline answer gal to a bona fide Sassy Psychic in Los Angeles years later. She works to help and heal people around the world and in the process, finds her own life fulfilled.

The author struggles with learning to become a “real” psychic, until she realizes that the size of the paycheck does not determine the quality of her gift. She learns to rely on her intuition to guide her, as well as the cast of characters (other single women) that she meets along the way. Each chapter is named after a zodiac sign and works to organize the author’s thoughts about her multifaceted life. She can either take advantage of her clients to earn more money, or she can develop a genuine interest in her clients and others – and master the gift of reading the future. The book does a good job of showing how she resolves this turmoil in her life.

Searching For Sassy is an interesting read because it features and highlights some calls that Mead fielded from her clients over the years.  The job morphed into a career and into a life calling later as she grew to love the callers as much as she loved helping them to sort out their problems. It shows that there are still people who find joy in their lives and in their jobs and that they are able to make a real difference in the world with their gift.
