Interesting aside, I had a situation on my blog where someone did not like the review I had given a book. I received a critical comment about "chasing" readers away from the book. My response was that I was doubtful that my review would chase anyone away who wanted to read the book-that certainly was not my intention. Here I am this morning thinking-love the cover, like the fact it is set in Sanibel Island, but do I want to read a book where my attention span will be short regarding a character. To paraphrase S. King there are too many good books to spend time on the bad one. Does one not so great review really influence one's choice of a book. For me I would say that I take a collection of reviews. On the reverse I am always shocked when everyone loves a book and it is not the book for me. I think I was 6 the first time I saw it? Down near Sanibel, actually. A piece of my heart has been drifting along the whole curve of Florida's Gulf Coast since then :) It's definitely fun to read books set there, makes me feel like I'm there -- instead of here ((13 hours north :( )) :) My mum is from the Panhandle, and her family still lives there, so I fell in love with the Gulf years ago … I think I was 6 the first time I saw it? Have been looking forward to reading her other books as soon as I can get my hands on them! Anything Florida-Gulf oriented gets my attention, especially when there's a great story involved too ...
