The Berenstain Bears series by Mike Berenstain has been a favorite of many children through the last few decades. Who can resist the cuteness, mischief, and good lessons of Brother Bear, Sister Bear, and sweet little Honey Bear? Their newest book, The Berenstain Bears’ Lemonade Stand, is, perhaps, devoid of the mischief, but none of the cuteness and fun fans have come to expect.
It is hot outside, and Mama Bear has made her little bears some refreshing lemonade. Mail Bear just happens to be passing by and asks if he can buy a glass for a quarter. This gives them an idea! Why not open a lemonade stand? During the rest of the afternoon the Bear cubs serve many people in their neighborhood who are working hard, shopping Farmer Bear’s market, and enjoying a block party and fireworks. The day is full of neighbors helping neighbors, serving others, and enjoying what is around you. These are always great lessons.
Berenstain Bears’ Lemonade Stand is also part of the I Can Read Books series level one, so it is a perfect addition to the library of a new reader as they enjoy some fun summer reading. Perhaps they may even be inspired to set up their own lemonade stand!
