After the last mishap in the Zombie Cave, Mick figures he can’t just run around tying his brother up anytime he wants to steal gold from zombie pirates. So it’s high time he teach Finley to swim. And where better to do it than the coolest swimming pool in town, bargained for in return for doing the dreaded chore of lawn mowing for his rich schoolmate, PJ.
He never thought for a moment that PJ would ask him to feed his weird little sea monkeys. Or that feeding them the wrong (coincidentally genetically enhanced) food would turn them into mermaids. Or that mermaids lured unsuspecting adults into the deep end of the pool, for lunch. Now it’s up to Mick and Finley to convince PJ that his beloved mermaid is not as sweet as he thinks and save the town. Before the full moon…
Mick Bogerman and his little brother Finley are back and it doesn’t look like life is getting any easier for the two. Finley has gained himself some street cred by saving his older brother from drowning in Zombie Cave just a short while ago and it looks like Mick might have to trust him and let him gain a little bit of independence. Another gem in the Slug Pie Story saga, How to Rid Your Swimming Pool of a Bloodthirsty Mermaid gives us a lesson about feeding our pets. And when I say feeding your pets, I specifically mean feeding them the RIGHT type of food. Not the kind that turns them into bloodthirsty monsters. That just can’t be properly responsible.
Again, my 5 and 7 year old boys loved Mick and Finley’s adventures and I was yet again tasked with nightly bedtime stories. I think they like zombies better, but bloodthirsty mermaids were almost as good. I liked that we got a little more insight on Mick, Finley, and even his mom. It gave us some more depth to all of the characters and I think Mick Bogerman is becoming a better author with each triumph against the monsters running amok in his town. My kids and I are all excited to see what happens to the Bogerman Brothers in the upcoming Slug Pie Story.
