If you’re a fan of sexy romance stories, but a certain popular trilogy is a bit too intense and graphic for your taste, a perfect antidote is the Emi Lost & Found Series, by Lori L. Otto. If you did read and enjoy the aforementioned trilogy, you would probably also like this one. Just know that it doesn’t get nearly as hot and heavy, and it also chronicles a much gentler story, without the prevalent element of violence.
The first book in the series, Lost and Found, introduces us to the main characters, Nate and Emi. Best friends since high school, the pair has vowed to maintain a platonic relationship. But from the first chapter, the reader can see right through their valiant efforts. The sexual tension is palpable. For years they have stood by and watched each other fail at one relationship after another, waiting in the sidelines to offer support when it’s needed. Although they have managed to remain strictly friends, their friendship tends to interfere with their romantic relationships. This is a giant clue as to where their story could be heading. Friends and family can also see right through them, and wait impatiently for the two friends to finally acknowledge their true feelings for one another. It seems that everyone can see what Nate and Emi are meant to be, except Nate and Emi themselves.
However, Nate and Emi’s journey from longtime friends to maybe something more is not an easy one. They encounter multiple setbacks. The reader is left holding her breath. Will he make the right decision? Will she forgive him? Will he commit to the wrong woman? Will she return his calls? There is quite a bit of tension and uncertainty at every turn, which makes for a good, suspenseful story.
Be forewarned, there are some pretty descriptive bedroom scenes throughout the book, and they just get steamier and steamier as the story progresses. However, they are written very tastefully. At the end of Lost and Found, the reader is still not quite sure what will become of Nate and Emi. We’re not quite satiated. Their fate is not sealed. We have to wait to see what happens in Book Two: Time Stands Still. Thankfully, the entire trilogy, along with a prequel, has already been published, so we won’t have to wait long!
