double-backReviewed by Amanda B.

Molly Messenger is kidnapped and returned after three days, unharmed. Her mother, Chris, does not allow her to talk to the police and the police remains tight lipped as well. The whole situation just seems plain odd to private investigator Georgia Davis. Following Molly’s safe return, Chris’ boss dies in a car crash and the next day Chris meets the same fate.
Convinced that his daughter is not safe, Molly’s father hires Georgia to investigate his ex-wife’s death. Georgia and her friend, and video producer, Ellie Foreman track leads from Wisconsin to a town bordering Arizona that is teeming with smuggled drugs and illegal immigrants. It seems that Chris, who was the IT manager at a large Chicago bank, may have been somehow involved with the missing three million dollars.
After the first few pages, I was already hooked on Doubleback. The book was chock full of action and suspense, and pulled me further in with each sentence. There was not a single dull page; when you pick up this book, plan to read until you reach the end.

Doubleback is the second book in a series to feature PI Georgia Davis (after Easy Innocence) and the first to partner Davis with Ellie Foreman, heroine of books like A Shot to Die For. I plan on reading the rest of the books written by Libby Fischer Hellmann as soon as I can get my hands on them.
