For many people, reading books tends to relieve stress. I am one of those who will devour a novel because it takes my mind off things going on in my world around me. But for others, they take the route of actually being able to scribble in their books. I know, not what I would do, but when you have a book as pretty as this one? Oh, and while it has devotions and text, it is, also, a coloring book!
This strikingly beautiful adult coloring book is titled, Christmas Quiet. Contained within is a 25 day devotional, along with coloring pages. The authors take a piece of Scripture and then writes up a small word of encouragement or inspiration. This is leading up to Christmas so all the little pieces deal with the advent.
I was surprised to see how big this book was–with over 100 pages, it will keep someone occupied for a good amount of time. I do believe my mother would spend hours doodling away through these pages. And while I am not drawn to coloring and haven’t been in quite some time, even I was attracted to the intricately designed sketches.
Now on to the actual pictures. I love the designs, which vary from simple birds and a quote, to very complex sketches of ornaments, houses with snow, and so on. The eye is instantly drawn to the bold print and fine lines that are just begging to be filled in! And one of my favorite sections in the book would be the back few pages that are lined for notes of quiet reflection. This is such a warm, inviting book that allows the observer to meditate, and the artist to escape into another world.
