I have this packed away in TBR boxes. I leave them unsealed so I pull one out to read. I think the author is right, about the two hour chunk, I think I would need three though. The idea of music while you write and the candles sounds so great. It does sound very much like nesting.

Do you mean the excerpt from the book in the very beginning? I don't think the implication is that she carried the canoe into the water...

I just reread the post. Was she saying she took a canoe out by herself? Canoes are pretty heavy to deal with for one person. Maybe if you have your own dock, but even then, not a great idea. Now I am suspicious.

Love the writing rituals of a sandlewood candle, lotion and your allotment of coffee. I could never clean my desk before starting a writing project. I would go off on a cleaning tangent and never get another thing written.

Hehe ... It's worth a shot! I mean, my gran is always telling me I should "write - it's a gift!", but also frequently wanting to know why I'm not "taking the next step" ... I'll just have to remember to USE the amazing line next time ;)

Hi Christine, I love the part where you said it is like seeds in a pack that is never opened. That is the way I feel most of the time for the last few months. I am trying to get my home in order so I can consentrate on my writing. I am getting the planting and yard work done and getting ready for the thoughts I have had and will have.

LOVE the idea of 'nesting' before writing, of the idea of your story growing and maturing in 'book utero' before it can be born ... It's soooooo true! Writing is like birthing ... I like it. Will have to remember to use that next time my grandmother gives me grief about not having babies: "I am currently growing a story idea, Gran, and cannot have a baby too" ;) Seriously though, love it. Very good encouragement, what I needed to hear at this point actually :)
