I love pictures of bookshelves. When I see unusual or those that can I would want for myself I forward the links to a like minded friend in California. There is even a site on Facebook where you can post pictures of your bookshelves but I can’t remember where I put the link.
We are planning on moving to a retirement apartment so when I looked at the different places, I kept looking for shelves and walk in closets for the books. I have few clothes but lots of books. I have them in the order that I received them and dread packing them for fear of losing the order.
Finally in the retirement apartment. Since I did not have enough bookshelves for my books I left the books read in the bins and the books to read are now in the bookshelves. My “read” books are now all out of order since my husband helped me back. I did organized the books to read by genre. I love that especially for book challenges.
Wow,they look alot like our house, books stacked horizontally and vertically, piled on top to fit on the shelf, library pils on the floor, extra baskets or under and on the coffee table for all my coffee table books, and that doesn’t even start with the kids bookshelves. The more time I spend reading book blogs, the more I realize I’m not the oddball out to have my house basically built around/upon books! haha … But seriously. My whole family is a huge reading family, and we collect books. I definitely, without a shadow of doubt, inherited that gene. So there are shelves lining most of the walls in my house, plus not a few random stacks or boxes of books I own that don’t quite fit the shelves. And then there is the library stack – or, during the schoolyear, stackS (to distinquish between the two libraries). Ah books … nothin’ like ’em! Love looking at your shelves and seeing all the variety :o)
HAHA! I’m so careful about my books, people stopped borrowing from me since I harangue them to be careful :)
Do I need a library card for this location or can I use the one I have! LOL Great stacks and shelves Serena recently posted..One Amazing Thing by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

Your bookshelves are the picture of luxury reading. I am not a book keeper, but seeing your pictres gave the warm fuzzies. I will have to zoom in to see if any titles jump out at me. More books for my wishlist.
I am in the slow process of downsizing 8 6-foot tall bookcases down to two (oh, the attic, the stacks in the bedroom, bathroom and other places to many to mention) … I love my books, I’ve read them, cried through some, learned through others and shared them friends… after much soul searching I am parting with most of my books (friends) and I have bought a kindle…
My eye sight was not so good and now I am having trouble reading for long periods of time… the kindle is helping with the font size adjustment. I still miss the actual book in my hands and the smell & feel of the paper as I turn the pages. But, as with all things … times change and I need to simplify my home and life. Plus, with the bookshelves emptied I can now have the room painted.
I will keep some of my treasured books and let the others go to other homes. I just hope that they are well loved and taken care of as they were by me. Debb Lou recently posted..The Marrowbone Marble Company by M. Glenn Taylor

Ha! I love it! I have been wanting to post pictures of my bookshelves too. I have also wanted to post a picture of my ultimate dream home library. itsJUSTme-wendy recently posted..Is this the rainy, cold season?
Whoa, Vera! I spy The Perfect Finish. It must be a big job for you coordinating all the reviews and mailings, etc.
I read a lot of fiction, but mostly from the public library. The only books I like to keep are cookbooks. My husband only likes to buy non-fiction. So our bookshelves are primarily war and bread.
