The book Female Brain Gone Insane: An Emergency Guide For Women Who Feel Like They Are Falling Apart by Mia Lundin, founder of The Center for Hormonal and Nutritional Balance, gave me a better understanding of the female mind in peril. There are bits of information here that I was able to convey to my mother, my girlfriend, my grandmother, and my co-workers; all seemed appreciative of the advice I had to give, and all thought I had acquired some newfound pool of wisdom when it came to females and their troubles. If only they knew that it was all from this little book!
When dishing out advice, one must usually have had their fill of trials and tribulations in order to be knowledgeable enough in a certain area. Mia Lundin seems to know just what makes the female brain tick, as she has gone through her fair share of problematic times and hardships. Not only does she have life experience, but Mia also has the medical expertise to back up her writing. Even so, she is still able to explain things in an easy and simplistic manner.
One interesting section was dedicated to charting the emotions and feelings along with the physical symptoms of a monthly cycle. Such a chart is meant to provide a concrete view of the pattern of hormonal changes, as well as the corresponding emotional and physical changes. Sometimes, being able to “see” something rather than continue to think of it in the abstract brings a greater understanding of what is happening. Though I could not use it myself (for obvious reasons), I found it very interesting and suggested the system to many women.
Female Brain Gone Insane is an up-to-date medical information guide brought to us by a woman who has experienced unruly hormones and has a degree in understanding them. If you’d like to take charge of your own mind and body, this is the book for you.
