Animal Planet has been a loved source for learning about the habits of all different kinds of animals for decades now. Their cable network has put forth wonderful programs for animal lovers of all ages. They have also put out some amazing books, the newest of which is their Animal Bites series by Laaren Brown. Within this series, young readers can explore the habits & habitats of Polar, Ocean, Wild and Farm animals.
As always, the Animal Planet photography in these books is amazing! The pictures are gorgeous and include full page and two page spreads, as well as smaller pictures and collages.
Brown has included information in bite sized pieces alongside these gorgeous photographs that teaches children about many different animals’ habitats, habits, and fun quirks! Did you know that Dolphins are predators to octopus? I had no idea! The picture of it caught my eye and drew me into reading more about it, like the fact that the Dolphins catch and eat the octopus while swimming at 25 miles per hour!
Animal Planet’s Animal Bites by Laaren Brown would make great “coffee table” books for any home or care center with children. My own children, from ages 2-13 have been picking them up and looking/reading through them daily since we received them!
